Traditional Crater Architecture keycap About 80% keyboards on the market are based on the crater architecture becasue the price is competitvely lower and the design is simpler. Due to the long key travel of the crater keyboard, the crater design can not be used on the thin keyboard.
The ultrathin keycaps on the traditional crater architecture Currently, there are two types of crater keyboard, the first one is tradional crater architecture. The other one is updated crater architecture which was called chute-type crater architecture.
Chute-type Crater architecture keyboard The traditional architecture keyboard was fixed by two slots combined with four support points . It accounts for 70% in the crater architecture keyboard. Although the cost is low, the keycaps are easily drop or stuck. The keyboard get old and slow after long time typing.
Chute-type Crater architecture keycap The keycaps get improved in the chute-type crater architecture. The number of slots are added to be four and supports points to be four. Compared with the traditional one, the chute-type has higher stability, the keycaps are not easily droped. So, the cost is higher.
